ALONE IN A CROWD

I've been there. 

I'm the strong one.

I am resourceful and skilled.

I'm resilient.

I can do anything I put my mind to.

I can't pay my rent.

I look at my kids and worry that we'll have another upheaval.

I've seen the statistics.  Divorce.  Poverty.  Questionable school districts.

I am scared.

I am angry.

I know a lot of people.  I have a job.  I go to church.

I can't ask for help.  The ridicule.  The judgement.  The "advice."  

Trust me - I've followed all of the advice because, remember?  I'm resourceful and resilient.  I am capable.

Yes, I've been to social services.  Yes, I've applied for that funding.  Yes, I've called resources.

You are seen.  You have sisters and brothers that know what it's like.  Sometimes we just don't know because you are so strong.  We understand why you're not sharing your struggles, but we still want to help.
